KARATE ACHIEVER
Congratulations to Olivia Bean for Receiving 2 Medals for Karate 
- The first was Gold for Fighting and the second, Silver for Kata.

ANIMAL ANTI-CRUELTY LEAGUE FOUNDATION PHASE ART EXHIBITION
These learners received Merit Certificates for doing such a wonderful,
creative job with their Art Competition, displaying kindness and caring towards a domestic pet.

CHRISTOPHER DU PREEZ

- A grade 7 learner and an extremely gifted sportsman
Academically, Christopher is a capable young man. He is focused and has to balance his academic and sporting workload.
Christopher was elected as a Learner Councillor and displays excellent leadership qualities.
He is most intuitive and thoughtful and is aware of what is necessary for the greater good of the school.
Chris wears his uniform with pride and is a good ambassador for Montrose.
Christopher is an outstanding and talented sportsman.
His achievements are:
Rugby: Gauteng Touch Rugby A Side (2011) and went to provincials in Cape Town and he was a most dedicated player.
Cricket: Johannesburg North Area Aside (2009), Montrose A Team (2009-2011), Captain of Cricket (2011),
Gauteng Action Cricket A Team, Captain and Batsman of the Tournament (2011), Full Colours
Athletics: School Captain of Athletics ( 2011), Full Colours, Broke longstanding 80m record (2010, 2011)
Swimming: Member of A Team at Montrose, Unbeaten in Freestyle
Hockey: Vice-Captain of A Team, Half-Colours
Soccer: Gauteng U13A (2010), School Captain A Team, Full Colours
Christopher is also a member of the choir and has been involved in school plays.
His art was chosen for the Montrose Art Exhibition in 2010.
CRICKET STARS

Zack Momberg, a grade 2 learner, has scored the fastest 100 runs in 25 overs for a primary school player.
He comes from a cricketing family and started playing with a hard ball at the age of 6 in the under 9 team.
He played in the under 10 team at the age of 7 and also made the under 8 Northern Suburbs Schools cricket team.
This year, at the age of 8, he again made the under 8 NSSSC team and is by far the best player in that age group.
At school he plays cricket for the under 8/9/10 and 11 teams and has taken numerous wickets and made a lot of runs.
His fielding, bowling and batting skills are by far, way above any 8 year old cricket player.
Zack also made the under 9 Gauteng Action Cricket team two years in a row at the age of 7 and 8.
This young boy is destined for greater things in the Cricketing world!
 
 
Wandile Makwetu, a Grade 6, started playing Cricket at a very young age and displayed a natural talent for the sport.
He proved to be an excellent batsman early on by scoring his first 50 runs at the age of 10.
He played in the under 9/10/11/12 and Open teams and was Captain of those teams.
He made the Gauteng Action Cricket Team in under 9/10/11 and 12. He was part of the Montrose First team
that won the 2010 Montrose Night Cricket Tournament.
He was also selected to be part of the Gauteng Standard Bank Under 13 team in 2011 and he is only 12 years old.
Wandile is a top batsman and wicket keeper in Gauteng and is destined for bigger things in life.

SOCCER ACHIEVEMENT
Lyle Fortune, a grade 4 learner, has been awarded his Half Colours for soccer.
Lyle has been selected to take part in the Under 10 Boys team for the Rand Central Soccer Association.

SWIMMING HONOURS

Chesnay Havenga, Alaistare Dare and Justine Glaeser received their Full Colours
for Swimming for excellence in swimming in 2011.

Katherine Bean, Matthew Rix, Roxanne Harris, Justin Maistry, Lyle Fortune and Annabelle Eedes
received their Half Colours for swimming

Cael Murray, Kate Pournara and Kellin Roos received their swimming certificate for excellence
in team swimming in 2011.
ATHLETICS FULL COLOURS
Christopher du Preez and Shannon Butler have earned their Full Colours
for Athletics in 2011 - Congratulations!


 

ATHLETICS HALF COLOURS
Caitlyn Bronner, Jackey Lingange, Justin Marshall and Thando Makwetu have all earned their
Half Colours for Athletics after their remarkable performance sduring the athletics season. Well Done!


 

SACEE LANUAGE CHALLENGE
These Montrose Grade 1 to 7 learners, were the schools’ top achievers in their respective grades
in the annual national Sacee Language Challenge set by the South African Council for English Educators.

+600 MERIT POINTS
Grade 6 Learners, Rohan Talesara and Jenna Prinsloo have earned
+600 Points for Behaviour and Etiquette, thereby earning their colours.

CRICKET SCROLL
Benjamin Gerson, has earned his Montrose Scroll for Service
following his numerous cricketing achievements,
and after being selected for the Gauteng Action Cricket Team

TECHNOLOGY OLYMPIAD
Montrose Grade 6 Learners, achieved 3rd place in the District in the recent Technology Olympiad.
Well Done!

SPELL CHECK GAUTENG
Chloe Smith, Vari Manyukwi and Selaena Surjoodeen attended the 2011 Spell Check Competition on
Tuesday 30th September. There were 118 contestants from a number of schools in Pretoria and Gauteng.
The learners spent the morning writing a series of spelling tests.Following a lunch break and the marking of the papers,
the 128 contestants were knocked down to the top 30.
With great excitement, Chloe Smith and Vari Manyukwi made the knocks out and were selected in the top 30.
Thereafter, the top 30 learners went into an immediate written knock out round where if you get one word wrong
you were knocked out. Unfortunately, both girls were knocked out after they were given a tricky
and difficult set of spelling words.However, congratulations to the girls for making it so far in the competition. Well done!

MONTROSE ACHIEVERS
Arjun Jayaraj is commended on receiving the Kumon gold certificate for level C.
Vanshika Gupta received first prize in UCMAS (Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System)
National Competition. This was held on 4th June 2011 at the Linden Auditorium at WITS University.
Vanshika received a trophy and a gold certificate.
