2011 Book Character Day
2011-09-09 09:57
As part of the Literacy Week celebrations, the learners selected a character from their favourite book and dressed up
as this character. They also presented a short speech to their class about their character and told the class more
about their book. This way, learners were able to motivate their peers to read books which they are passionate about.
Hooked on Books once again visited the school on Thursday 1st September to coincide with the, ‘Book Character Day’
activity. The show promotes the learners’ love for books; fiction and non-fiction, song and poetry.
The show opens the learners’ world to new publications and entices the learners by acting out scenes from various
publications. Thereafter, the learners have to withdraw the newly promoted publications from the school’s media centre
in order to find out more about each story.
This is a super way to get learners interested in books and passionate about reading.
